The beginning of the Internet and the WEB 3.
Have you ever asked yourself how the Internet started? Because we use the technology we currently have, where all those successes originated to enjoy everything that the Internet offers us. Nowadays the Internet is part of the lives of many people, those of us who work through this tool can be grateful to everyone who has been part of what we know today as the internet.
ARPANET (1969)
The beginnings of the Internet date back to the beginnings of communications between computers, ARPAnet (advanced research projects agency network) was a computer network built to send military data and connect the main research groups in the United States. Yes, again the war led us to create innovations that marked humanity, since efforts to create computers existed since the beginning of the 20th century, it was not until the wars fought accelerated the research and financing to have computers that made more advanced mathematical calculations to calculate the trajectory of missiles, but this would be another story.
In the next 30 years many more innovations emerged around ARPAnet, but it was not until 1990 that Tim Berners-lee, an employee at CERN (European Council for Nuclear Research), created a NeXTcube computer, which we know today as WWW (World Wide Web) and ushered in a new era for the Internet.
Web 1.0
This term is a friendly way of calling the beginnings of WWW and the revolution that would come, the technologies that would be born and the creation of the foundations that today allow us to have a connection on multiple devices and we can have our refrigerator connected to the internet or control an entire house remotely.
At the beginning of the WWW, we had access to web pages and it was also the beginning of the adoption of the Internet by people, this added to the efforts of hackers who had the mentality of bringing a personal computer to every home, thanks to the fact that everything came together in a time of constant technological advancement, it was possible to generate new ways in which humans could connect, now we had a powerful tool that would lead us to be more connected, not only for scientific, academic, military issues, but to have fun, read and make our lives more comfortable.
I can say that I had to live part of WEB 1.0, my beginnings on the Internet date back to 1997 when I was only 10 years old and where I had to access a computer that did not yet have a graphical interface, a black screen with a green cursor that allowed me to access different programs until curiosity led me to discover web pages and delve into the beginnings of Web 2.0.
WEB 2.0
I can say that I lived the experience of being part of the beginnings of Web 2.0, my beginnings were in 2001 with my first web pages and it was not until 2003 that I began to publish the first websites, my blogs, particularly sharing my knowledge in GNU/Linux, being part of the technology and sharing with more people who equally invested in this revolution on the Internet. I get to see the birth and death of technologies, proposals that remain up to date and the evolution of other technologies that we use today. It is no longer the same to make a website today as it was 20 years ago. What we want to rescue from WEB 2.0 is the way in which we can easily share information and this is why it gave the birth of social networks which allowed us to share, create and communicate, therefore, we define WEB 2.0 as “Reading and Writing”.
WEB 3
Nothing is written and this is the coolest thing of all, since we are at a stage where we can build the foundations that will give the impetus to WEB3. Recapitulating we can say that WEB 1.0 was read-only, with the arrival of WEB 2.0 we would have reading and writing and now with WEB 3 we will have “Property”.
I want to finish by mentioning something very important: Web3 are not only NFTs, there is going to be much more beyond that and it is about OWNERSHIP. We can take it to other areas, but they are fragile points. It will lead us to do surprising things if we see it as an opportunity to incorporate technologies like Blockachin, cryptography and the potential that cryptocurrencies offer us.
I repeat it again, WEB 3 is not just NFTs, Bitcoin, Ethereum, Blockchain, it is much bigger, it is the beginning of a new way of seeing the internet and the way in which we can incorporate technology into our daily lives.
Recently, I participated in an interview with other enthusiasts on the subject of WEB 3 and in a live interview they asked me about the aspect and here I share a brief summary of what I previously read.
